Dynamic Picture Creation

Graphic menus including different levels, background images, typography, hard shadow and Alpha-channel masking can be automatically generated. You may add, delete or rename – TYPO3 generates the corresponding menu on its own. TYPO3 has long since been known for its impressive graphic engine which is still special among the top-class Content-Management-Systems.

Image Processing

You, as editor, do not need special knowledge about image formats, pixel space or filesize. You can transfer images directly from your digital camera or CD-Rom and TYPO3 will take care of the correct depiction – web-optimized, off course. The images are physically scaled to the right size – without HTML scaling! This also applies to formats such as TIF, AI, PDF, PCX etc. which are rather untypical for the web.

Intelligent Rich Text Editor

A so-called Rich Text Editor is included in TYPO3. It offers you the same possibilities as a regular word processor with regard to text input and formatting. Headlines, heavy and italic type, enumeration, linking and images may be generated without HTML knowledge. If, for example, a picture turns out too big you can just scale it smaller. TYPO3 will generate a physically smaller and web-optimized copy.

Hierarchical structure

Every single object – page and data record – is organized as part of a hierarchical tree structure with loose-leaf and data files as you know it from your own computer. Not only is this concept widely known to computer users but it is also one of the best concepts for a plain information management.

Open Architecture

TYPO3 provides a flexible and open structure and is based on open standards. It was programmed in PHP4, the popular web script language. That gives you the opportunity to resort to a technology used by about 8 million websites worldwide and probably as many programmers.

Scalability

TYPO3 can be expended on many levels. Its architecture not only makes possible the data processing with one’s own PHP-scripts, classes and functions but also the insertion of own backend modules, website plug-ins, data bank tables etc. Each class used in the core system can be extended and adjusted without threatening the compatibility with new system versions.

Singular Caching Technology

The dynamic publishing of contents sometimes requires intense processor strains. TYPO3 was optimized to handle this situation in an intelligent way. The moment the page is accessed for the first time all important data processing is conducted and filed in the cache. At the next page view the page is already existent. That applies for all levels starting with the page reproduction up to the menu generating or the creation of images. At the same time, the filed page’s validity can be defined individually.

Different Editing Modes

As editor you are given the possibility to either control the content of your page from backend to give you an overview or to surf the page frontend and simply click on and edit the relevant elements. To do that, you hardly need any training at all.

Format comprehensive search engine

Large pages tend to become confusing for users and editors. It can become a huge challenge to recover a text stored somewhere years ago. The TYPO3 search engine scans websites, forums, PDF and Word documents and helps you and your users to keep track of things.
